GM David Howell
Compliments to Champions Chess Tour: Meltwater
As chess with a very rich history so does the talent to convey your field of experience and knowledge to others.
To convey your experience and knowledge with the goal of improving a chess player's rating or playing better chess can be achieved with various disciplines.
I want to compliment GM David Howell when I notice the following:
David is one of our chess commentators for our favorite online chess series. This series of champion chess tours has helped to improve our chess game, and I am grateful for the value it has added to my chess games.
The game of chess is a game that requires strategic thinking and skillful moves. It is one of the most popular games in the world, with millions of players. The game has been around for centuries, and it is still played today. There are many ways to learn how to play chess, but one way that has been gaining popularity over the years is to be trained in chess.
To convey experience and knowledge a chess game requires rules, regulations, strategy, tactics, and similar aspects which can involve a person like GM David Howell. I notice David makes use of three different skills or disciplines to improve our chess game:
As appointed Commentator and giving commentary during the series.
Consultation by giving sound advice on various chess game aspects e.g. tactics and strategy in the game of chess.
He will occasionally adopt coaching skills by asking questions to Jovanka and Kaja on how would they solve the chess problem on the board.
In addition, I notice the following from David:
Applicable chess storytelling.
Associations.
Repeating necessary elements and knowledge like tactics and strategy.
Chess moves made by chess players are not described with coordinates but rather with a comprehensive identification of pieces by colors and naming of pieces. This makes it easier for any beginner chess player up to higher levels of chess ratings to follow with ease. You will not necessarily find this approach with all top GMs. I appreciate the fact that all experienced chess players do not necessarily want to keep themselves busy with teaching, training, or consulting.
Perfect use of arrows on software for chess players just like me.
His own chess play experience was conveyed in a manner to teach.
Hand/arm movements and direction gestures make it easier for us to follow.
Blessed with excellent communication skills in his own language.
Effective, quick capability and talent to convey abstract chess tactics and strategy with ease.
A friendly, attractive personality.
